Services and Rates
I'm a freelance line editor, copyeditor, and proofreader.
You can learn about these services by clicking on the links.
Much of the time, my clients need all three services performed at once because their document hasn't been line-edited, copyedited, or proofread.
Always, I'll respect your style and voice, your hard work, and your vision for what you've written. I'll never turn what you wrote into something you won't recognize.
If you're confused or just want more information, I'd be happy to talk with you about your project and answer questions.
If you're thinking about hiring me, I'd be delighted to give you a quote. I'm willing to work on a per-word, per-hour, or project-rate basis. My hourly rates are typically between $40 and $50, depending on the nature and complexity of the project. Project-rate and per-word prices are calculated based on my estimate of the time needed for the job.
There are no standard uniform rates for line editors, copyeditors, or proofreaders because many factors affect rates, including the type of document, the complexity of its language, the shape it's in when it's received, the experience and expertise of the editor, and the deadline. My rates are consistent with typical rates published by the Editorial Freelancers Association. You may be interested in reviewing them.
To give you a quote, I'll need to know the number of words in your document. And I'd like to see it before quoting—you can upload it (see the Contact page) or send it to me via email, Dropbox, or another service. Of course, it will remain confidential whether you hire me or not.
For first-time potential clients, I'm happy to do a free sample edit of about 500 words of your document upon request.
